Flaked Maize

• Maize has the highest energy content of all the cereal crops, containing twice as much oil as wheat or barley. It is also very high in starch; the starch in maize is slowly fermented, compared to that in wheat or barley, with up to 30% of it escaping fermentation.
• By flaking maize, we increase its digestibility and make is more available to the young fast-growing animal.
• The inclusion of flaked maize in the feed also increases its palatability.
